The nursing job has always been seen as a diverse career for people. It is true that it is a nurse’s primary duty to take care of their patients, but it does not usually involved having to stay in a hospital in order to do that. Wednesday, November 11th, 2009Many people enter the nursing world because of the many benefits that they can acquire. Alongside these benefits are a number of responsibilities that a staff nurse is designed to accomplish. There are different responsibilities for the different type of nurses. A nurse can be a registered general nurse, RGN, or a registered mental nurse, RMN. An RGN is a nurse who doesn’t perform a specific kind of job unlike the RMN who stays and tends people afflicted with mental illnesses. As much as possible, RGN’s should be able to expose themselves in the different areas of nursing so that they are able to do their work better. Nurses are also able to work in different kinds of settings like in hospitals, community health centers, clinics, in the home of the patient and many others. In the hospital, they can also be found in different departments including the Intensive Care units, out-patient unit or the in-patient unit. In general, nurses have different responsibilities based on the areas they are in.

Nursing assistant skills are used to help residents or patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and to provide bedside care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Its modern definitions involve promoting individuals’ optimal health from birth to the last days of life. The American Nurses’ Association (1980) defined nursing as “the diagnosis and treatment of human responses to actual or potential health problems.” Nursing diagnoses help in the planning, implementing, and evaluation of nursing care.
